Hope

Against

Hope

"Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." Romans 4:16-25

When the world says it's impossible

And they tell you it can't be done

When you fear you're doomed to failure

And this race you'll never run

You must face each impossibility

Take up your cross and don't be swayed

Just look unto Jesus who endured such contradictions

And for your calling He’ll make a way.

By

Faith

"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." James 1:2-12

When the world clips my wings

So that I can not fly

When all my hopes and dreams

Lie bleeding close to die

By faith I ascend above

The clouds of human fret

And my soul clings to the cross

My dreams to resurrect

When doors are closed and locked

And bars obscure my sight

When bound and chained in spirit

And in the darkness I see no light

By faith I walk in trust

Through fears of the unseen

Then my spirit soars above

For God's light within I see

When misjudged and sore condemned

And the world is closing in

When all I see is sorrow

Depression, death and sin

By faith I carry onward

Against the threats of hell

For in eternal light and life

I shall forever dwell

When persecution comes

And I can only stand

When running is not an option

And my life comes to an end

Then by faith I shall rejoice

Because God's glory I will see

For face to face I shall behold

Jesus Christ my GOD and KING.

"For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." Ephesians 3:14-21

III.

Hope Unseen

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." 1st John 3:1-3

Death once reigned unto the grave

Yet the Light of Life so few souls crave

In the likeness of the sinful flesh

The Lamb of God fulfilled His Father's quest

Dying on the Cross He shed

His blood for mankind - souls once dead

Captivity was taken captive unto its own sting

Thus throughout eternity - Victory is heard to ring

Sin was condemned in the flesh

The vail was rent - now man may pass

Turning from the dark of night

Unto the glorious gospel light

To be born of the Spirit from up on high

The Way to follow the Truth and the Life

Unto the Word of God our lives we must apply

Presenting our bodies a living sacrifice

To walk in the Spirit is life and peace

Thus we must take up our cross - and deny what is beneath

The Spirit to quicken our bodies - we must mortify

As we await our hope - to descend from on high

The adoption to wit - to redemption we're called

Creation shall be delivered - from the bondage of Satan's fall

An earnest expectation - a realm unknown of before

Yet because of growing tribulation - creation groaneth the more

The realms that be shall pass away

Through our Christ and God shall arise a perfect day

Of Eternal Truth by our High Priest of God

Who became obedient unto death under subjection in love

That God may be all in all

When "It is Done" there's more fall

The race of angels and the race of men

Shall be as one in that new land

Of eternal peace and eternal rest

Where there is no sin; thus, no more death.

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it." Romans 8:1-25

The Path

of the

Just

"But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble." Proverbs 4:18-19

The  reasoning of a child

Is sometimes so foolish but yet so true

And the sky above rains tears from gray

Not always clear and blue

The seasons seem to speak in rhymes

As nature unleashes the signs of the times

The earth it groans with trembling quakes

As the sea it foams out filth and shame

Things are not always as they appear

Within to bring forth - Out of to bring near

As in a mirror - behold the image is changed

Over and over - the glory in frames

The Path of the Just - as a light it doth shine

As more and more - the way to walk we shall find

The strait and narrow way - so few find in this dark night

The broad way is now compatible - with the contemporary light

The foundations have been destroyed

Our blood is soon to spill

To be persecuted by an extreme conservative right

Fulfilling the prophecy of the fifth seal

Found to be worthy to escape

From the coming snare of strong delusive death

An ecumenical and worldly harlot church

Is a system we must reject

For the Mystery Catholic Whore is rising

And she comes forth riding upon the Beast

As the deceived are "Renewing their Passions for a false Christ"

Seduced by a false Protestant Watchman Jesuit Priest

Thus my earnest expectation

Is not a Pre-Trib False Rapture but a grave

To be resurrected at the seventh and last trumpet

Thus in faith and patience I shall wait

Then immortal I will be

As I stand on that crystal shore

Through eyes of fire to see

Christ Jesus my KING forevermore

There shall be no night, darkness, sin or pain

In that new world where all is changed

For the Light of Life shall be

Forever every-thing to me

In that perfect day to come

For when "It is Done, It is Done"

V.

A

Cross to Bear

"And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." Mark 8:34-38

Peering out

Through eyes of clay

My acuteness grows

With each passing day

I’m looking out

From deep within

As an unexplainable numbness grows

Is it self or sin?

I’m becoming so aware

Of the unreality of all

As I pray to stand stronger

And not to fall

Deep calleth unto deep

Yet I must break through

For the Holy Spirit is guiding me deeper

Into the Word of truth

Day by day

I have a cross to bear

With my daily bread

In life to share

That I might touch that place

Beyond this darkened sphere

Denying myself

To find Christ Jesus there

It’s the way of life

Into the light

For Christ bridged the gulf

And won my right

To overcome the realm of darkness

And the wages of sin

To mortify the lust of flesh

Which wars within

For the way of death

Into the night

Is a hardened heart

To lose my sight

I must learn to walk

On this troubled sea by faith

To trust in Christ

Not to sink by a self chosen fate

I'm pressing onward

To apprehend

Resurrection power

Over Satan, self and sin

For living unto myself

I shall die

And saving myself

Shall be my demise

Yet dying unto self

Is true Life to find

The race to win

As a star to shine

Fighting the fight

I must carry on

In weakness I find

That Jesus Christ is strong

In a robe of white

No more of clay

To be found worthy to stand

For this I pray

With the 5th Seal being opened

Our blood shall soon spill

To be gathered before the Throne

Between the 6th and 7th seals

He who sits on the clouds

With sickle in hand

Sits KING of the flood

With a Crown on His head

Thus when the great shaking

Quakes the heavens and earth

And the Sun burns black

To announce the curse

When the moon bleeds red

And all shall cry in fear

Lift up your eyes

For your redemption draws near

Not by a pre-trib rapture

Believe not their lie

But to be given a robe

Washed in the Lamb's blood pure white

Thus fear not man

Nor the enemy death

For Jesus holds the sickle

Of our own life's breath

Persecution is coming

Of this be certain and sure

Thus we must stand to the end

And in faith and patience endure

Praying to be worthy

To escape the night

For what awaits the world

Is a far more dreadful fright

The trumpets shall sound

One by one

And into God's Judgment the world

Shall be cast and plunged

The elements of nature shall rage

From the heavens above

In a supernatural siege

Hail and fire mingled with blood

A great mountain burning with fire

Shall then be cast in the sea

As a third part of the sea becomes blood

Followed by death and disease

A spirit named Wormwood

Shall then fall from the sky

Upon a third of earth's rivers and fountains

Causing many humans to die

The sun, moon and stars shall be smitten

To shine not a third part of their light

Thus there shall be great darkness a third part of the day

And likewise also a third part of the night

And in this state of such darkness

Greater judgments shall fall

For there are yet three more last trumpets

Which have yet to give forth their call

Apollyon's demon army shall ascend

Out of the bottomless pit

To torment men for five months

But it's far from over just yet

For when this first woe is past

When death has fled from all men

The second woe cometh

To slay a third part of them

Four fallen Angels shall be loosed

Their armies so vast

Numbering two hundred million

Their horsemen shall mass

Killing men by fire, smoke and brimstone

Hell's gates shall greatly enlarge

Yet men shall still not repent of their sins

For their hearts are so hard

Thus with one woe still left

Time shall soon be no more

When the Lord Himself shall descend

With a Shout and a Roar

For when that trumpet shall sound

Even the seventh and last

The Mystery of God should be finished

Which He hath declared from the past

Then the dead shall rise first

From their tombs and their graves

And those Saints still alive shall then follow

Who are left and remain

Thus the first resurrection

Shall then be fulfilled come to pass

Before the last woe and far greastest

Shall bring forth the world's appointment with wrath

The seven last plagues

Shall be poured from on high

Upon the kingdom of darkness

And those marked by the father of lies

Yet in this carnal body of sin death

The Children of God shall dwell never more

For we shall then worship our KING

From that crystal sea shining shore

For no man's eye hath yet seen

Nor hath their ear ever heard

Neither has it entered into men's hearts

The things which God hath prepared

For them who love God

In Spirit and in Truth

Who take up their Cross

To stand when it's their own lives to lose

Thus no matter come what shall may

To end all of our false illusions of life

Even so come quickly we pray

To bid farewell to this kingdom of night.

"And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass? And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls." Luke 21:7-19

"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution."

2nd Timothy 3:12

VI.

In Christ to Live

In Christ to Die

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you." Philippians 1:21-24

When I depart and this body dies

For my soul you need not cry

Death for me is greatest gain

No matter how much endure I pain

Death a door its sting denied

From those crystal shores to sing on high

No fear of darkness for the light hath shined

I'm leaving this world far behind

So why for my soul should you cry

When daily we're called unto self to die

This world is passing - its lust to cease

Nothing it holds is worth its grief

Confusion about death reveals a lack of faith

Thus from worldly sorrow we must awake

So at my death don't fret that God has lied

For His blood He shed when for our sins He died

To know Christ is the only quest that is worthy of God

There's a cost and price of submission in love

To attain unto the resurrection and myself to deny

I press toward the mark and reach for the prize

It's all passing away and only what's of Christ shall endure

In Him to be found of this I want to be sure

Thus weep for yourselves and weep not for me

For if only your weeping eyes could really see

In eternal glory to behold the Lamb

No longer dust to forever stand

For when I shall die then I shall I live

So this advice I wish to give

In Christ to live

In Christ to die

By faith through grace

God can not lie

In Christ to die

In Christ live

Fear not that hour

For you are His.

"For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living." Romans 14:8-9

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us." 2nd Timothy 1:7-14

So Also

is the

Resurrection

"So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:  It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly." 1st Corinthians 15:42-49

In the night so dark and calm

Cascading silence fills the hum

Eternity breathes upon the cool damp winds

As reflections from the moon descend

With the season's change comes the latter rains

Once to fall Earth's not the same

The fleeting warmth of the summer days

Must journey on their appointed way

To leave behind the yesterday

Thus to usher in the winter's stay

Leaves are blown to and fro

As colors change on Earth below

Green Earth turns brown and the sky turns gray

As creation's beauty seems to fade

Life it dies to rise again

Resurrected, purged and cleansed.

© 1993 Raymond Bolton Pena

"Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1st Corinthians 15:50-57
